Men of the nigerian Police force deployed to Borno State, on special duty, today, took to the streets of Maiduguri to protest six months of unpaid allowances by the federal government.

Barricades and road blocks were seen been setup causing a traffic gridlock

The police officers were reportedly said to have been deployed to Borno State from various zones across Nigeria to help in the fight against bokoharam insurgency in the state.

According to eyewitnesses, the angry police officers were seeing shooting in the air this morning forcing motorists nearby to run for safety. .

One of the police officers, Voiced out fustration while speaking with news men. He said  “we can no longer tolerate this; for over six months now we have no allowances not any decent accommodation; we sleep on corridors of offices and sometimes in the open air; enough is enough”.

Speaking with the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Damian Chukwu, He said- ‘the police is aware of the situation’.

He also added that the unpaid allowances was caused by the delay in signing the 2018 budget.
