The deputy Governor of Edo state, Comrade Phillips Shaibu yesterday narrowly escaped an accident as one his convoy vehicle was involved in an auto crash along the Benin- Agbor expressway, in which the personal assistant to the deputy governor and a police inspector attached to the deputy governor’s security detail sustained serious injuries.
They were both immediately rushed to the university of benin teaching hospital and are currently recieving treatment.
Although sources say that they were brought in a critical condition.

The Vehicle reportedly skidded of the road while the driver was trying to avoid running into a police checkpoint on thier way to benin city after an official meeting in Asaba, delta state.
According to Mr Musa Ebhomiana, his Chief Press Secretary, the accident occurred shortly after Abudu, headquarters of Orhionmwon local government council at a road block mounted by policemen.
He futher explained that the policemen had taken advantage of a bad spot on the road to mount a checkpoint which resulted in the accident.
He also said that no life was lost in the crash aside the minor injuries sustained by the leader of the police team, an Inspector and the Personal Assistant to the governor who were rushed to UBTH.
