I decided to try out kidnapping because they told me it was lucrative - Mechanic

The Niger State Police Command has on Sunday that it had arrested a 30-year-old man, Sani Mohammed, for attempting to abduct one miss Stella Agbachi and steal her phone, punchng reports.

The attempted kidnapping took place at top medical road tunga, in minna the state capital and the suspect was apprehended by men of the anti-kidnapping squad while trying to flee.

The suspect also confessed to have attempted kidnapping in different part of the state but his efforts were unfruitful.

Sani who is an auto mechanic, hails from Zumba in the Shiroro LGA, of the state, said his desperation to make money led him into the business because he needed to pay his bills.

“After hearing that kidnapping is a lucrative business where one can make a lot of money, I said to myself: let me try it out if i would succeed. After all, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step. I was planning to start executing some missions when I found myself in the police net,” Sani said.

“My job was not fetching me good income so i decided to sort for other means, my parents have refused to come and see me since my arrest because of the shame i have brought on them”, sani added.

The Police PRO, Muhammad Abubakar said, “There is no hiding place for kidnappers in the state. We cannot allow kidnappers and other criminals to take over the state.”

The suspect would be charged to court after completion of investigations, he said.
