American comedian, Bill Cosby sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexaully assaulting woman in 2004

American comedian, Bill Cosby, 81 has been sentenced for  3 to 10 years in prison today by a court for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004, over 14years ago.

Accoriding to Montgomery County Judge, Steven O’Neill, who ruled Cosby to be a “sexually violent predator” handed him the sentence after finding him guilty of sexual assault on Temple University women’s basketball administrator, Andrea Constand, at his estate near Philadelphia in 2004.

Prosecutors asked a judge to give the comedian five to 10 years behind bars, while his lawyers asked for house arrest, saying the legally blind Cosby, 81, is too old and helpless to do time in prison.

Over 60 other women have accused cosby of sexually assualting them but none leading to a criminal charge against him.

With the sentence, Cosby is mandated undergo lifetime counseling and report quarterly to authorities. His name will appear on a sex-offender registry sent to neighbors, schools and victims.
