Man nabbed by NDLEA for carrying marijuana in Niger state

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency has arrested one Vwang David a 53-year-old man in Niger who was caught with 335 blocks of 218 kilogrammes of weeds suspected to be marijuana.

David when flagged down at jebba control post refused to stop resulting in contact being made to the Mokwa station, David’s Toyota camry car eventually came to an halt when the vehicle crashed.

When men of NDLEA eventually got to the accident site, The suspect was rescued and his car was searched. The search revealed the illicit substance loaded in the booth.

According to the state commander of the NDLEA- Mrs Egwunwoke Ekaete, Vwang had been taking the route for sometime now always going with military uniform and coming back with mufti and this alerted the suspicion of the policemen. When newsmen interviewed the suspect, he said:


“I am not the owner of the car, my friend sent me to deliver the car to his wife in Minna.  “I did not know what was in the booth of the car. I have never seen Indian hemp in my life, this is my first time of seeing it.  “I regret my action, it is my friend that pushed me into this trouble,” Vwang said, pointing out that his friend who was in another car “took off immediately they arrested me”.

Mrs Ekaete revealed that the  suspect would be charged to court once investigation is complete.
