13-day-old baby stolen from sleeping mother in Ondo

A 13-day-old baby has been declared missing after he was stolen from his sleeping mother by suspected ritualist in Uro quarters, Ajowa Akoko in Akoko north-west council area of Ondo State.

According to Reports, the sleeping mother had no idea that her baby was taken from her as she was deeply asleep.

It was learnt that an elderly woman in the same neighborhood who saw the masked men and tried to raise alarm was attacked with a machette.

The father of the child was suspected for this act, according to a family member there was no agreement between the alleged father and mother over the paternity of the child. A search party has been setup to help find the missing baby.

Adetaranmi Ibitayo, the Divisional police officer for okeagbe disclosed that police detectives have commenced an investigation and vowed that the perpetrators would be arrested and brought to book.

The community leader of I Karam, Oba Andrew Momodu said the incident was unfortunate and that local vigilantes should be given incentives so as to complement the efforts of the police force.

In his statement:
