Man arraigned after viciously beating mother-in-law in Lagos

Seun Okwuyigbo, a 35-year-old man has been arrested by the police after allegedly beating and injuring his mother-in-law in the eye.

Seun was arraigned for charges of assault in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Wednesday.

The prosecutor told the court the accused beat up his mother-in-law, Mrs Tolani Bisiritu, 65, for inquiring about his ill treatment of her daughter and the children whom he had locked up in a dark room. 

He said the offense was in violation of Sections 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The case has been adjourned to February 11.

Mr. Okwuyigbo pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by Magistrate E. Kubeinje at N100, 000 with sureties who had to be gainfully employed with tax receipts.
