Man arrested for buying N150,000 laptop for N5,000

A 28-year-old man identified as Paul Ofia, has been arrested by the Police for allegedly trading in stolen goods in Bayelsa state.

Ofia hails from Ikwo village in Ebonyi State, and an expert in the sales of stolen goods. He specialized in buying stolen electronics until he was caught by the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service. 

When the illegal tradesman was caught with a stolen laptop worth N150,000 he claimed to have purchased the laptop for N5,000.

Parkins Ogede, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service, said the trader has been handed over to the Police for further investigation and prosecution.

Ogede urged residents to be careful and enquire properly before purchasing anything and to always request for receipts when making a transaction.
