The kidnapped chairman of the Abia state All Progressives Congress (APC), Donatus Nwankpa, has been released by his abductors.
Nwankpa was abducted by unknown gunmen few hours before President Buahri visited the state on Tuesday for the presidential campaign.
Confirming his release, Nwankpa’s spokesperson, Benedict Godson, said Nwankpa was released on Thursday night January 31st with no ransom paid.

“We thank God for his safe return and we appreciate all those who in one way or the other contributed to his safe return. We also want to thank our governorship candidate and other leaders of the party in the state for standing with us since he was kidnapped,” he said.

The APC rally had continued in his absence despite IPOB’s instruction to its members ,urging them to disregard the campaign.
