Jose Mourinho accepts one year jail term for tax evasion

Jose Mourinho has accepted a one year jail term for tax evasion, but the Portuguese will not be sent to prison due to Spanish law concerning first time offenders.

Mourinho who went to the Provincial court on Tuesday will also pay a fine of £1.75million.

He is being sentenced regarding his image rights in 2011 and 2012 when he was the manager of Real Madrid.

He told reporters in November 2017:

“I answered, I didn’t contest it, I paid and I signed an official agreement with the state under which everything was definitively closed.

“That’s why I’ve been here five minutes today to say to the judge exactly what I’m telling you, Mourinho said.

The renowned coach who was sacked about a month ago by Manchester United football club has since found work as a pundit.
