The Imo State police command has apprehended a young woman for selling her 6-hour-old baby for N850,000.
The 23-year-old lady identified as Chinonye Oparaocha, sold the baby at a clinic along Nekede Road in Owerri.
The young mother had allegedly planned with one Confidence Anyanwu, a 28-year-old nurse and her husband, Amaeze Anyanwu who has escaped arrest.
The husband was responsible for transporting the baby to Port Harcourt where a middleman named Duru was waiting to help with the sale.
On arrival, Duru, in company of one George Iyowuna, met him, collected the boy and handed him over to a buyer, one Mrs. William Cynthia and her husband who eventually paid the sum of N850,000.
On April 13th, operatives of the Scorpion Squad arrested all suspects involved and recovered the baby who had been named Anita William.
