Nigerians have trooped in large numbers to cut up a stranded whale on the shore at Okpoama beach in Bayelsa state.
The whale was said to have been washed up on the shore on the 28th of July and the indigenes were unsure whether it was dead or in some form of hibernation or unconsciousness.
It didn’t take long before they decided to butcher it for consumption.

Chief Berebofa Ebi-Johnson, an indigene, revealed that this had happened two times before.
A whale had washed up the beach in 1983 and then again in 2017 and each time it usually took days for the meat to be cut up by the community.
