It has been revealed that the reason American basketballer, Donell D.J Cooper, was handed a two-year suspension by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in 2018 was because his test results had showed he was pregnant.
According to a new report from Eurohoops, Cooper’s two-year-long suspension came after the drug test administered by the governing body revealed that he was pregnant.
He had tested positive for human chorionic gonadotropin. An hormone produced by the placenta in pregnant women
Cooper had been planning to join the Bosnian National team when the test revealed the shocking results which were found to have belonged to his girlfriend who was unaware that she was pregnant at the time.
The suspension means that Cooper who had been playing in Europe since missing out on the NBA draft, is ineligible to play internationally until June of 2020.
