BREAKING: Liverpool win super cup after penalty shoot out

Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup for the fourth time as they edged out Premier League rivals Chelsea on penalties in Istanbul.

Stand-in goalkeeper Adrian saved the vital spot-kick from Tammy Abraham to win it for the Reds, who came from behind to clinch the trophy.

It was the Blues who took the lead during a sustained period of first-half pressure when Olivier Giroud slotted home after being found by Christian Pulisic, who also had a goal disallowed on his first Chelsea start.

Sadio Mane levelled at the start of the second half after substitute Roberto Firmino caused chaos in the Chelsea box, and it was Mane who then put the Reds ahead early in extra-time after again being found by his Brazilian teammate.

Adrian felled Tammy Abraham to allow Jorginho to level from the penalty spot soon after though, but the Spaniard was the hero as he saved from the forward to win it for the Reds.
