The Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki’s convoy has been involved in a car accident which claimed the lives of 7 people.
The incident occurred at Ehor village along the Benin-Ekpoma highway reports Punchng.
According to eye witness reports, the accident occurred when the Toyota Hilux van of the Governor’s advance team had a head-on collision with a passenger Audi car.
The convoy was on their way to the Ekpoma for the convocation ceremony at Ambrose Ali University which the Governor still attended.
Three survivors have been rushed to the Central Hospital in Benin City for medical attention after a Good Samaritan had reportedly taken both survivors and deceased to the First SAVAN Centre at the hospital.
Anthony Oko, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, adding that the two children died on their way to the hospital.
The state commissioner of police, Danmallam Mohammed, also confirmed the incident but refused to go into details.
Meanwhile, at the convocation, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, promised to build a hostel at the university.
