Just in: ASUU commences indefinte strike amidst COVID-19 pandemic

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has declared an indefinite strike beginning from today Monday March 23rd.

The strike action comes while Nigeria still battles with the COVID—19 pandemic as multiple persons have tested positive in several states.

The union’s president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who announced this at a press conference at its National Secretariat Abuja, said the strike is over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System and the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement. He noted that the government failed to address the issues raised.

Recall that ASUU had on Monday, March 9, 2020, declared a two-week warning strike.
