The Chief of staff to President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, has tested positive to coronavirus while the president has tested negative.
The test comes days after the chief of staff returned from an official trip to Germany.
According to reports the test was carried out while he was still asymptomatic on Saturday.
The result came back on Monday positive and he has gone into self-isolation as the symptoms are yet to manifest.
Following his result, the president was advised to carry out the test too which turned out negative.
Alongside a minister, Buhari’s chief of staff had attended a meeting in Germany with officials of Siemens to discuss issues relating to the Nigerian power sector.
Reports of Kyari’s status of COVID-19 was disclosed after the federal executive council meeting was suspended indefinitely.
Meanwhile, Nigeria currently has 40 cases of coronavirus.
