A painter identified as Niyi Abegunde, has been arrested by police in Oyo state for allegedly killing a 69-year-old evangelist, Grace Ajibola.
The artisan had discovered that the old woman had about 2 million Naira in her bank account when she sent him to withdraw for her at an ATM.
He had murdered the evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Imole, Ibadan, in her own home at Johnson Awe area of Oluyole Estate.
Abegunde had gained the lady’s trust and became a steady friend whom occasionally ran errands for her and attended her church services.
However, on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, when she sent him to help her withdraw some cash from her bank account through an ATM, the painter decided to check her account balance and found over N2 million in it.
He had returned to her house later that day and strangled her before whisking away with her atm card and other valuables. He had later withdrawn the sum of N120,000 from the account before he was arrested at his hideout in Akure, Ondo State.
