Pastor Adeboye finally reacts to rape, murder of student in RCCG church

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has reacted after the gruesome rape and murder of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a student of UNIBEN in a branch of his church.

The 100 level student of microbiology had reportedly gone to study in the church when she was attacked and raped. Her head bashed in by a fire extinguisher.

She had succumbed to her injuries even after being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Nigerians had taken to social media to call for justice while some put pressure on the church to speak out about the issue.

Adeboye, in a statement on his official Instagram page, condemned the tragedy.

He wrote,

“All I can do at this time is to pray for the family of Omozuwa and do everything possible, working with relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to book.

“I and members of my family condemn this act strongly and urge everyone to stay calm, as we are already looking into the matter and cooperating with the police to establish the facts of the shocking situation.”
