Man City 3-0 Arsenal: David Luiz horror show gifts City win over Gunners

Manchester City made it a winning return to Premier League action on a night Arsenal defender David Luiz will want to forget in a hurry.

Luiz was introduced as a first-half substitute but it was his mistake that allowed Raheem Sterling to open the scoring before the Brazilian was later shown a straight red for fouling
Riyad Mahrez in the box.

Just as the half looked set to end goalless, Sterling seized on
Arsenal substitute Luiz’s inability to deal with a Kevin DeBruyne pass and lashed home from close range before
wheeling off and celebrating with his team-mates.

In the second half, Mahrez’s pace unsettled Luiz and the defender’s  attempt to slow the winger led to a foul, with  referee Anthony Taylor pointing to the spot and brandishing a red card.

De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot before Phil Foden made sure of the three points with a late third.
