IGP Adamu unveils new unit SWAT to replace SARS

Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police Adamu Adamu, has set up the new Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) squad to replace the defunct Federal Special Anti-robbery squad(FSARS).

Recall the IGP in his list of five points of reaction to the demands of the people had said that a new arrangement would be made to handle the duties of the scrapped SARS. 

“The IGP has also set up a new Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Tram will fill the gaps arising from dissolution of the defunct SARS. Prospective members will undergo psychological and medical examination for this assignment,” a presidential aide Johannes Tobi tweeted. “They are to commence training next week.”

Presidential aide Tolu also shared the press release by the IGP which included a command that all members of the defunct SARS group to head to police headquarters in Abuja for psych evaluation which the probable members of the the new group would also had to encounter.
