Grammy winning musician Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy, has revealed that the Nigerian Government played a part in delaying his award win since 2013.

Recall, Burna boy clinched a Grammy award for his last album, Twice as Tall, in the best world album category.

According to the singer in a recent interview, the situation hadn’t always been conducive as the leaders hadn’t put in place certain infrastructure to encourage growth of youth.

Burna who spoke about working with Diddy and others on the album said he’d enjoyed working on it during the pandemic.

He added that he’d fully deserved the award and planned to keep dropping more bodies of work so he could leave a legacy behind.

He said:

“I saw this moment happening back in 2012. I just realised it (the music struggle) was bigger than me. It’s like I used to do this on the streets and everyone is going crazy, but now I don’t see anyone better than me.
“So, it’s like this is serious now. Anything is possible. Whatever situation you may be in wherever you find yourself doesn’t really determine your future or stop you from not considering your dreams as being dreams.
”In the end, we’re in an environment that doesn’t believe in itself before they even think of believing in you.”
