The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern part of Nigeria.
According to Daily Independent, the decision comes as the party prepares for a series of internal meetings to address several issues affecting its structure.
The National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees (BoT), and party caucus are scheduled to meet over the next two days in Abuja.
These meetings will address unresolved matters from previous congresses and set the stage for the party’s national convention.
According to PDP’s Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, the ticket is now open to all eligible southerners.
“The PDP has opened the presidential ticket to all eligible southerners. We are zoning to the South”, Osadolor said.
The founding members of the PDP are also set to meet under the Consultative Conference of PDP Founding Fathers and Stakeholders.
Their goal is to take back control of the party’s original values and direction.
