A source within the Presidency has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in the 2027 presidential election Dockaysworld reports.
The confirmation comes after weeks of rumours suggesting Tinubu might replace Shettima with another politician from the North-west to strengthen his re-election chances.
Those speculations sparked tension within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), especially in the North-east, where Shettima’s supporters openly resisted any move to sideline him.
The insider, however, dismissed the reports as baseless and maintained that Tinubu has no intention of changing his deputy.
According to the source, the President is set to run on a joint ticket with Shettima, putting to rest talks of a possible shake-up.
“The president will run with Shettima. You can file it away. Stop worrying about the rumour. He will. We (the APC) are winning the next election is all I know. Walahi!,” the source told ThisDay.
