38 kidnapped Kwara worshippers regain freedom

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that all 38 worshippers abducted during the attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, have regained their freedom.

Recall that the kidnappers had demanded 3.8 billion naira ransom for the kidnapped victims who had been taken during a live service.

The development comes days after the President cancelled his planned trips to the G20 Summit in South Africa to coordinate security operations at home amid rising public outrage.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Tinubu said the rescue was achieved through intensified operations by security agencies.

“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued,” he wrote.

The President also confirmed progress in the ongoing rescue efforts in Niger State, where dozens of schoolchildren were kidnapped.

“I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,” he noted.

Recall Dockaysworld reported that about 50 pupils had regained freedom according to the Christian association of Nigeria who claimed they had escaped.

Tinubu reassured Nigerians that he is receiving continuous frontline updates and remains fully engaged in managing the country’s security response.

“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he said.

Nigerians await further positive news on the whereabouts and safe return of victims still in captivity.
