Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, has passed away in Benin City.
He died on Sunday, just a day before his 89th birthday.
His death was announced by the Immaculate Conception College Old Boys’ Association, which described him as a proud alumnus of the school.
The group also extended condolences to his family and promised that burial details would be announced later.
Born on September 29, 1936, Osayande had a long career in the Nigeria Police Force.
He served as Commissioner of Police in Benue and Cross River States before rising to the rank of Deputy Inspector General.
After his retirement, he became Chairman of the Police Service Commission, where he played a key role in administrative reforms within the police.
He is remembered for his decades of service to law enforcement and his contributions to the institution.
Tributes have continued to pour in, with many calling for prayers for his family during this period of mourning.
