Tinubu Announces New Political Leader To Replace Aregbesola

President Bola Tinubu has declared Honourable Adebisi Yusuff, popularly known as Bisi Yusuf, as the political leader of Alimosho in Lagos State, a position once held by Rauf Aregbesola.

The announcement was made in a birthday message from the president, where Tinubu praised Yusuf’s record as a grassroots mobilizer, lawmaker, financial expert, and humanitarian.

He also credited him for rallying support in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yusuf, who represented Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly for 12 years, also served as chairman of Ipaja/Ayobo Local Council Development Area.

During his time in the assembly, he chaired key committees, including commerce and public accounts.

Tinubu’s recognition of Yusuf is widely seen as a strategic move to end the dominance of his estranged ally, Aregbesola, in Lagos’ most populous local government.

Aregbesola, once a close associate and grassroots enforcer for Tinubu in Alimosho, is now the national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition plotting to unseat the president in 2027.

For years, Yusuf was considered to be operating in Aregbesola’s shadow.

By placing him at the forefront, Tinubu has repositioned a trusted loyalist to consolidate control in an area that has historically shaped electoral outcomes in Lagos.

The development comes as Alimosho remains a hotbed of political battles.

Political figures such as Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and Aregbesola himself are vying for influence.

Control of the area is expected to play a central role in the 2027 elections, as both the APC and ADC intensify mobilization.
