The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in Abuja on behalf of the government.
He extended greetings to Nigerians both at home and abroad as the country prepares to mark another year of nationhood since independence in 1960.
The minister urged citizens to remain committed to unity, peace, and resilience, which he described as values that have kept the nation moving forward.
He also encouraged Nigerians to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is built on national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
He expressed optimism that with collective effort, the country would keep progressing in stability and development.
The government wished all Nigerians a joyful Independence Day celebration.
