NUC Identifies 58 Fake Universities Operating Illegally In Nigeria

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has uncovered 58 universities operating illegally across Nigeria.

These institutions are not accredited and are running without approval, putting students at risk of obtaining invalid degrees.

The regulatory body also revealed that eight other institutions are under investigation for offering unauthorised degree programmes.

Law enforcement agencies have been notified to take necessary action against these illegal operations.

According to the NUC, anyone enrolling in or receiving certificates from these unapproved universities does so at their own risk

The list of fake universities includes institutions operating in various states, as well as some with foreign affiliations claiming to have study centres in Nigeria.

The commission warned that students must be careful when selecting institutions to avoid exploitation and ensure that their academic qualifications are recognised.
