The Senate on Wednesday inaugurated two newly elected lawmakers to fill vacant seats in the upper chamber.
Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was sworn in as the Senator representing Anambra South, while Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took the oath of office as Senator for Edo Central.
The two lawmakers were elected in the August 2025 by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Their elections followed the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who previously represented Anambra South, and the exit of Monday Okpebholo, who vacated his seat after winning the Edo State governorship election.
Recall that Dockaysworld earlier reported that three new House of Representatives members were also sworn in on Tuesday, instead of the five newly elected lawmakers, as two were absent from the ceremony.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio presided over the swearing-in during Wednesday’s plenary, welcoming the new senators and urging them to contribute actively to legislative business.
