The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reacted to a trending post on social media which gives potential applicants a fake update on the recruitment process.
The post claims to show the number of shortlisted candidates per state for the final stage of its 2025 recruitment exercise.
In a public disclaimer released on X, the Service clarified that the publication did not originate from the Nigeria Customs Service or any of its authorised communication channels.
It urged applicants and the general public to disregard the false information in its entirety.
According to the NCS, the ongoing recruitment process began with an official advertisement on December 27, 2024, which attracted 573,523 applications across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. After a thorough documentary screening, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted to participate in the first phase of the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Only successful applicants under the Superintendent Cadre advanced to the second phase of the test, which will take place across designated centres within the six geopolitical zones.
The Service said this approach demonstrates its commitment to transparency, merit, and inclusiveness in the selection process.
Reaffirming its dedication to a fair and credible recruitment exercise, the NCS advised applicants to rely solely on verified updates from the official Recruitment Update Portal.
The Service also cautioned the public against sharing or acting on unverified social media posts, noting that such misinformation could mislead applicants and disrupt the recruitment process.
