Comedian and activist Mr Macaroni has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of hypocrisy following the recent presidential pardon of 175 convicts and ex-convicts.
His reaction came after an old tweet from presidential media aide Dada Olusegun resurfaced, in which he had strongly condemned the pardon of former Bayelsa governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha by the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2013.
Olusegun had written at the time:
“In saner climes, civil society organizations should be on the streets protesting the pardon of the criminal Alams by now.”
Mr Macaroni, reacting to the resurfaced post and the government’s recent actions, tweeted:
“Every evil that the APC once condemned, they now practice and support. APC is a party filled with the most corrupt people surrounded by the worst sycophants. A marriage of doom and misfortune! Tueh Kelebe!”
The post has since gone viral, sparking widespread debate on social media as many Nigerians recalled similar statements made by APC members while they were in opposition.
Various critics say the government’s decision to pardon individuals convicted of corruption and drug-related offenses undermines the hard work of agencies like the NDLEA, institutions like the judiciary and more.
