Hajiya Saratu Shehu Shagari, the last surviving wife of former Nigerian President Shehu Shagari, is dead.
Dockaysworld reports that she passed away at the age of 89, on Monday, November 10, after battling a long illness.
According to a statement released by Captain Mohammed Bala Shagari, the eldest son of the late president, she died around 3 p.m.

Her death marks the end of an era in the Shagari family, coming years after the passing of other wives of the former leader.
The family said plans for her burial and other arrangements would be made public later.
