Nigerian influencer and popular Wizkid fan, Barbiecue, has come under heavy criticism after resurfacing online to dismiss earlier reports of her death, claiming her Instagram account had been hacked.
The influencer, who was widely reported dead after a post from her verified page announced she had passed away two days earlier, returned to social media hours later to say the post was fake.
She said people were too quick to believe bad news without verifying the facts and denied that she staged the incident for attention.
Her response has triggered outrage across social media, with many users accusing her of faking her death to gain publicity.
Comments have flooded the internet, with critics describing the episode as an “attention-seeking stunt” and telling her to “enjoy her moment of fame.”
Some members of Wizkid’s fanbase, known as the “FC,” also expressed disappointment, saying her actions cast a shadow on the group.
The controversy erupted after a post on her Instagram account earlier claimed she had died following a fall while helping a woman with a baby carrier.
The post announcing her death still remains on her page.
