Paystack has suspended its co-founder, Ezra Olubi, over alleged sexual misconduct following the wave of troubling tweets that resurfaced the day before.
According to TechCabal, the company confirmed in a statement that it had taken immediate action after becoming aware of the claims linked to Olubi.
Paystack noted that he has been relieved of all responsibilities while a formal probe is underway.
The company added that it would refrain from making additional comments until the review is concluded, citing the need to respect all parties involved and ensure the integrity of the process.
“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company told TechCabal in a statement. “We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”
“Out of respect for the individuals involved and to protect the integrity of the process, we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete,” Paystack said.
Recall Dockaysworld reported that there was public uproar on X, where disturbing tweets from Olubi resurfaced alongside accusations made by financial expert Max Obae (@makispoke).
Max had previously shared claims about manipulation, mistreatment of staff, and an alleged improper relationship with his subordinate.
Her disclosures triggered renewed scrutiny, leading to the circulation of several old tweets containing inappropriate and troubling content.
The development marks a significant moment for one of Africa’s most influential tech firms.
Founded in 2015, Paystack quickly gained global attention, becoming one of the earliest African startups backed by Y Combinator.
Its landmark $200 million acquisition in 2020 remains one of the biggest exits in the continent’s tech ecosystem.
