The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports about an alleged assassination attempt on Lt. Ahmed Yerima.
In a statement released on Sunday, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh,
the police said no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the FCT.
Recall that Yerima had gained popularity after getting into an altercation with FCT minister Nyesom Wike, over a land matter.
The Command described the circulating information as false and warned the public against spreading unverified claims that could cause unnecessary panic.
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications alleging an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima. We wish to categorically state that no such incident has occurred,” the statement read.
The Command further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division.
