Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi has been sacked over sexual misconduct allegations against him following problematic tweets which resurfaced recently.
Olubi revealed this via a statement in which he claimed he was dismissed from the company before investigation into the allegations against him was completed.
Olubi recalled that the turmoil began after his name and reputation were “called into question” due to information circulating online.
Following the uproar, Paystack suspended Olubi and initiated what he described as an “independent” investigation.
He said he chose to remain silent during that period “to avoid interfering with the investigation,” adding that he expected a fair and unbiased review of the claims.
According to him, that silence “created a vacuum that allowed assumptions and misrepresentations to spread without challenge.”
He insisted that the posts being shared online do not reflect his behaviour, saying: “Those who know me personally or professionally understand that the posts being circulated do not reflect my conduct or the way I have lived my life.”
Olubi revealed that he was informed on Saturday, 22 November 2025, that his employment had been terminated.
He alleged that the decision was taken before the investigation concluded and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity for him to respond a move he described as a breach of Paystack’s internal procedures.
“In clear contravention of the terms of the suspension and Paystack’s own internal policies,” he said, “I was dismissed without any chance to address the issues raised.”
He noted that, as co-founder, technical leader, and long-serving board member, he helped establish the very systems and processes that govern Paystack’s internal operations.
He added that he cooperated fully with the Board’s directives and engaged with the investigation in good faith.
Olubi said his legal team is now reviewing the circumstances surrounding his termination and will take whatever steps they deem appropriate. He stated that he will not comment further at this time.
