Tinubu appoints 3 new ambassadors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of three ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for approval.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary.

The nominees include Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke.

Akpabio noted that the President is expected to transmit additional names in due course.

Recall that the clamor for Nigerian ambassadors has been mounting as the nation has had no ambassadors for about 2 years.

The calls mounted following President Trump’s re-designation of Nigeria as a country of particular concern.

This led to many pondering whether relations may have been smoother with a Nigerian Ambassador in the United States to intercede for the country.
It is not yet clear which foreign missions these ambassadors are to lead if confirmed.
