A palm wine tapper kidnapped alongside his colleague in Emuhu, near Agbor in Delta State, has been killed by bandits after his family attempted to negotiate with a N10,000 ransom, the only amount they could afford.
The news was broken by popular activist Harrison Gwamnishu who narrated that the second palm wine tapper had been rescued.
According to him, the tragic development followed a coordinated search-and-rescue operation, involving security teams from the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Emuhu Vigilante Group, Anti-Cult Abavo, Operation Soup, and police officers.
The operation spanned several communities, from Emuhu to Abavo, Obi-Ayama, and finally Urhonigbe in neighbouring Edo State.
One of the abducted tappers was eventually found alive in Urhonigbe. He narrated the heartbreaking moment his colleague was murdered when the kidnappers rejected the family’s N10,000 offer.
In the video shared by the activist and observed by Dockaysworld, the survivor could be seen struggling to recover from the ordeal he’d suffered.
This is coming less than a day after kidnappers released a video an abducted couple from Edo state, demanding N50M ransom.Â
Residents are calling on the government for more protection from assailants.
