HRH Ezelekhae Ewuare, the Crown Prince of the Benin Kingdom has publicly called out his father, the Oba of Benin, over the alleged expulsion of his mother, the Queen, from the palace and his own prolonged estrangement.
In a social media post seen by Dockaysworld, the Crown Prince said he was compelled to speak after receiving repeated messages about his mother’s welfare and the reasons for her absence from the palace.
He clarified that his mother “did nothing wrong” and insisted she is safe and being cared for, dismissing what he described as false narratives surrounding the situation.
According to him, the incident began about six months ago when his youngest brother allegedly forced his way into the palace to see their father, an action that angered the Oba.
He claimed that following the incident, his mother was instructed to leave the palace, a decision he said continues to cause him deep concern.
The Crown Prince also pleaded with the Oba to forgive his other children who he said have been sidelined, calling for unity rather than division within the royal family.
He further accused the Oba of publicly reprimanding and ostracizing him, recounting a speech in which the monarch allegedly spoke against him for several minutes over material issues and his perceived links to former Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki.
Recall the Oba of Benin had reprimanded his son for erroneously being a part of the controversial Museum of West African Art, MOWAA, which has been a bone fo contention between the monarch and the former state government.
Recently, thugs disrupted the opening of MOWAA allegedly under intention of defending the Oba’s right and calling out perceived fraud by the Godwin Obaseki administration.
The crown prince rejected claims that he acted without royal approval, stating that the Oba had initially given his blessing for his role on the Legacy Restoration Trust before later withdrawing it.
He traced the breakdown of their relationship to a confrontation while he was in Germany, admitting he raised his voice at his father after overhearing negative remarks made about him to a public figure.
The Crown Prince said he apologized repeatedly over four years but was never forgiven, describing the continued fallout as painful and unnecessary.
He expressed distress that what he called a private father-son issue was later taken to the public stage, contrary to values he said the Oba had taught the family.
In an emotional appeal, he urged the Oba to allow his mother return to the palace, describing her as undeserving of the treatment.
