Two more members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have withdrawn support for the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu.
The lawmakers, Barile Nwakoh of Khana Constituency I and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, urged their colleagues to drop the impeachment process and embrace dialogue.
They made the call during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, stressing that impeachment should not be the first response to political disagreements.
The appeal comes days after two other lawmakers broke ranks within the Assembly and called for restraint over the impeachment move against the governor.
Recall Dockaysworld reported that minority Leader Sylvanus Eyinna Nwankwo and Degema lawmaker Peter Abbey asked the House to reconsider the impeachment notices and explore peaceful alternatives.
They said their intervention followed appeals from leaders within and outside Rivers State, urging caution and reconciliation.
While acknowledging alleged constitutional breaches by the governor, the lawmakers maintained that dialogue and political wisdom should prevail.
The growing number of dissenting voices suggests deepening divisions within the Assembly as pressure mounts to de-escalate the political tension in the state.
