2027: Why Tinubu doesn’t need Governor support – Wike reveals

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said President Bola Tinubu does not require the backing of governors to secure political support ahead of 2027.

Wike made the assertion during the launch of the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the commissioning of its Port Harcourt office.

According to him, grassroots political leaders in Rivers State are capable of mobilising support for the President without relying on governors.

“We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilize us. We have what it takes to operate independently,” Wike said.

He listed senators, members of the state and National Assembly, local government chairmen, and party leaders from both the APC and PDP as part of the structure driving the mobilisation.

“We have mobilized ourselves to demonstrate our commitment because true support doesn’t need to be brought by someone – you have to make the commitment yourself,” he added.

Wike further said the unity displayed by the group reflects the resolve of local political actors in Rivers State who have voluntarily pledged their support to President Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda.

Wike’s comments seemingly address the defection of his estranged political protege Governor Siminalyi Fubara to the APC, after which he had pledged to secure victory in Rivers state for the president.
