The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Nigeria’s next presidential election will hold on Saturday, February 20, 2027.
In the timetable released on Thursday, the commission stated that the Presidential and National Assembly elections will take place on that date, while the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2027.
According to the schedule seen by Dockaysworld, INEC also outlined key pre-election activities. Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will commence in April 2026 and end in January 2027 to allow eligible Nigerians register or update their details.
Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries between July 1 and September 30, 2026.
Submission of candidates’ lists to the commission will run from October 1 to October 31, 2026, while the final list of candidates will be published on November 15, 2026.
According to the schedule, campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on November 18, 2026, and end on February 19, 2027.
Campaigns for Governorship and State Assembly elections will run from December 15, 2026, to March 5, 2027, 24 hours before the polls.
