The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won chairmanship seats in Kwali, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari in the 2026 FCT Area Council elections while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured victory in Gwagwalada.
In Kwali, APC candidate Daniel Nuhu polled 17,032 votes to defeat PDP’s Haruna Pai, who scored 8,575 votes. The result was announced at the council’s final collation centre after voting was held across the ten wards on Saturday.
The PDP clinched Gwagwalada through its candidate, Mohammed Kasim, who garnered 22,165 votes. He defeated APC’s Yahaya Shehu, who received 17,788 votes, according to the returning officer.
In AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu of the APC was declared winner after securing 40,295 votes. INEC confirmed his return as chairman-elect.
Joshua Ishaku delivered Bwari for the APC with 18,466 votes. The returning officer, Mohammed Nurudeen, declared him elected after confirming he met the legal requirements.
Nurudeen said the ADC candidate polled 4,254 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party candidate scored 3,515 votes. Voting in Bwari took place across ten wards, including Kubwa, Ushafa, Dutse and Bwari Central.
