A member of the House of Representatives representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obika announced his defection on Wednesday, formally leaving the Labour Party (LP) to join the ruling APC.
It was announced in the house by the speaker Tajudeen Abbass in a letter by the lawmaker who cited troubles within the Labour Party as part of his reasons for decamping.
The lawmaker currently represents the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and is serving his first term in the National Assembly.
His switch adds to the recent wave of defections among politicians in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The APC now has 31 governors out of 36 in the country.
