Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the 2027 presidential election will be his final attempt at the presidency.
He made the disclosure during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television on Wednesday.
Atiku maintained that he remains the most politically influential figure in Northern Nigeria, dismissing comparisons with Nasir El-Rufai, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Aminu Tambuwal.
On plans for opposition alignment ahead of the election, he indicated a preference for consensus among stakeholders but noted that a primary contest would be considered if an agreement is not reached.
Addressing concerns about his multiple presidential bids, Atiku said Nigeria’s major challenge is leadership, adding that his experience positions him to bridge both past governance and future direction.
He also advocated leadership development programmes for young Nigerians as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s political future.
The former vice president further criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as deeply disappointing and the poorest he has witnessed.
