Alex Ekubo was widely known in the Nigerian movie industry for starring in romantic comedy films and drama productions.

Over the years, he built a strong reputation as one of the most recognised actors in contemporary African cinema due to his acting talent and screen presence.

The late actor first gained public attention after emerging as the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition.

His popularity later grew after featuring in the Nollywood movie Weekend Getaway, which helped push him further into the spotlight.

In 2020, he was listed among the Most Influential People of African Descent under the age of 40 by the United Nations in recognition of his impact in entertainment and social development across Africa.
