Ganduje’s son joins NDC
Abdulaziz Ganduje, the son of former All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and is preparing to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
He has already collected the party’s nomination form to run for the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado federal constituency in Kano State.
Abdulaziz is linked to the Kwankwasiyya political movement, which is associated with former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
A video that circulated online showed him meeting Kwankwaso and explaining his interest in joining the race for the federal seat.
The seat he is targeting is currently occupied by Tijjani Jobe of the All Progressives Congress. Jobe was first elected under the New Nigeria People’s Party but later moved to the APC in January. He is also seeking another term and has already secured the APC ticket for the next general election.
Abdulaziz’s move adds another layer to the political competition in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections, as different parties continue to position their candidates for key federal constituencies.
The political relationship between Abdullahi Ganduje and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was once close when they worked together in Kano politics. However, it later broke down after Ganduje took over as governor in 2015, leading to years of political rivalry between both camps.
