Tinubu makes fresh appointments

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Eyitope Kola-Oyeneyin and Muhammad Hadi Mutallab as the new board chairpersons of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA).

The appointments were announced on Monday by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment through a statement shared on the Presidency’s official X account.

The ministry said the decision forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the leadership and governance of agencies responsible for investment promotion, industrial development and non-oil exports.

According to the ministry, the appointments are non-political and are intended to place experienced professionals in positions that will help improve the work of the two agencies.

Eyitope Kola-Oyeneyin will serve as the board chairperson of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, while Muhammad Hadi Mutallab will head the governing board of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority.

The ministry said the new boards are expected to provide direction for the agencies, strengthen oversight, improve accountability and support the delivery of their legal responsibilities.

It added that the NEPZA Governing Board would help guide the authority in carrying out its mandate of developing and promoting export processing zones and special economic zones across the country.

The ministry also said the appointments reflect the Federal Government’s plan to strengthen institutions that play a major role in attracting investment, supporting industrial growth and expanding Nigeria’s non-oil export sector.

It expressed confidence that the new chairpersons would work with the ministry to advance ongoing reforms, improve the performance of the agencies, attract more local and foreign investments and support the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
