State governor sacks commissioners
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has removed two commissioners from his cabinet and accepted the resignation of another commissioner as part of changes in his administration.
The decision was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The commissioners removed from office are Mohammed Salis Gamawa, who headed the Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Investment, and Dr Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam. Rimin Zayam previously served as Commissioner for Education before he was moved to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
The governor also accepted the resignation of Hon. Faruk Mustapha, the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties. Mustapha recently left the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the cabinet changes, Governor Mohammed has sent the names of new commissioner nominees to the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The list also includes other nominees to fill positions left vacant after the departure of some members of the State Executive Council.
The nominees will undergo screening and confirmation by the lawmakers before they can assume office.
Governor Mohammed thanked the outgoing officials for the services they rendered to Bauchi State while they served in his administration.
He also wished them well in their future activities and said his government would continue working towards improving service delivery and meeting the needs of the people of the state.
